Why Do A DTS?

The Psalmist got it right when he proclaimed that one day with God is better than a thousand days without Him. Truly there is no real meaning or purpose to life apart from Jesus Christ. We cast off our proud, selfish ways of doing things, say yes to the cross daily, and find ourselves at home with the God of the universe. No better place to be indeed!  Each one of us is called. Called to give our life back to the One who gave us life, and charged to stretch our hearts, minds, and hands out to a desperate world, both across the street and across oceans. God has not left you to a random existence but extends to you a life steeped in purpose and passion, a life of knowing Jesus and making Him known.   The DTS is an intensive six-month program that fuels inward transformation and outward application through worship, teachings, prayer, evangelism, service, compassion, etc. The first three months are spent here in Maui growing in our relationship with God and in the knowledge of the world around us. Emphasis is on personal application, not just “head knowledge”. The second three months is spent on the field (we focus on Southeast Asia and the Himalayas), sharing the truth and love of Jesus Christ with others.    All of us are here to first cultivate intimacy with Jesus—to discover as much as we can of our infinite, personal God. At YWAM Maui you will be encouraged and challenged in your walk with the Lord, no matter how long you have been a Christian. As we get to know Him, we understand better what He’s got for us to do with our life—to love Him, love everybody else, and make disciples of all nations.
